The New BCM Building of Southeastern
The BCM, Baptist Collegiate Ministry, at Southeastern Oklahoma State University is doing something new and improved. BCM is a student organization to help students follow the Lord during their time in college.
The Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma funds all of the BCMs in Oklahoma by giving a percentage of their tithes and offerings. Some local churches also fund Southeastern BCM.
The original BCM, located across the baseball field, has been condemned since Fall of 2016. According to Trey Hedrick, the director of the Southeastern BCM, the process of rebuilding the BCM has taken up to three years because of trying to raise enough funds.
“We are trying to raise 3.2 million dollars to make sure the building is going to be beneficial to the campus.” Hedrick said. “We want this to be a place where students on campus will come to hang out and make it their home away from home,” Hedrick added.
Although the exact date on when the building will be finished is unknown, Hedrick hopes the building will be ready by next year, but it could be about two years until the building is complete.
Although BCM does not have a facility at the moment, they still meet every Thursday at 8:00 P.M. in the Magnolia Room to worship and they welcome anybody with arms wide open.
