Savage Storm Volleyball is Pushing their Way to the Top
Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s volleyball team played against Arkansas Tech Friday, October 11, 2019 and ended up losing in three sets to Arkansas Tech.
Nicole Solum, head coach for Southeastern, has been coaching volleyball for about nine years. When Solum came into the Southeastern volleyball program all she wanted to do was help the team become what they are capable of.
“My biggest goal coming in was for this team to be exposed to new and different styles of volleyball; introduce them to new experiences, drills and skills,” Solum stated.
Before the game on Friday, Solum said, “We play with a lot passion and intensity that will show tonight and Tech is very similar to that, so I think this match will be very competitive and intense.”
The volleyball team really does show teamwork with every move they make. From drills and watching plays to patting each other on the back after any side has scored, you can just see the passion and the intensity the players have for the sport.
“We’re moving on an upward trend right now. I know our records do not really show that, but the little things we do in practice and the progress we’ve made in our matches, we are moving in the right direction” added Solum.
For this season so far, Southeastern Volleyball is 1 and 16 in matches overall; and in conference they are 0 and 7. There is a link on gosoutheastern.com to watch the matches live. The next volleyball game is Thursday, October 17 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas against Henderson State at 6:30 PM.
