Safe Trick or Treat

Southeastern Oklahoma State University wants to put a spell on you from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. by seeing you at Safe Trick or Treat on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. There’s no cost, just fun and games. Safe Trick or Treat is conveniently between Main St. Durant Trick or Treat hosted by The Chamber of Commerce and right before the Halloween Concert held in Montgomery Auditorium hosted by the Music Department at SE. It’s timed perfectly for families in case they want to attend all three events.

Shearer Hall is where the trick or treating will be held. Students and residents that live in Shearer are given candy, so they don't have to buy their own. Kids will go through all of the halls like a neighborhood asking for candy. Outside of Shearer Hall, along the street, there will be at least five to eight organizations that will set up their own tables and have little carnival games that kids can do and they will also hand out candy. Across the street from Shearer Hall, there’s the Haunted North Hall. Every year the theme is different and according to Jamey Keffer, a Hall Director at SE, said, “This years theme will be so cool, but you have to come in order to find out.”

Safe Trick or Treat is open to the community, and it’s also a great way for college students to earn volunteer hours. There are sign up sheets in Shearer Hall and in North Hall. You can sign up to help build or sign up to be an actor/actress in North Hall and you can sign up to hand out candy in Shearer Hall.

Keffer mentioned,“Southeastern wants parents to know that it’s free and this is one of the ways Southeastern contributes and serves the community. We want the folks coming in to just come on in and have a great time. There’s very little that we require from them other than them to just show up and to enjoy themselves.” So come on out and let Southeastern cast a spell on you.
